The Part-Time Comp Team Coach will work directly with high-level youth climbers competing at Qualifying Events, Regional, Divisional, National, and potentially International levels. This role involves coaching structured practices, supporting competition preparation, collaborating on athlete development plans, and helping maintain the high-performance culture of Method Climbing Team.

Responsibilities
Athlete Development & Coaching
- Lead and assist elite-level climbing practices
- Coach bouldering, sport climbing, strength, movement, and competition strategy
- Provide technical movement analysis and individualized feedback
- Support athlete goal setting and accountability
- Help athletes develop strong training habits, focus, and professionalism
- Foster confidence, resilience, and a growth mindset
- Uphold Method’s standards for effort, attitude, and sportsmanship
- Create an environment that is challenging, supportive, and athlete-centered
- Build strong relationships with athletes and families through clear communication and professionalism
- Serve as a positive role model for younger athletes within the program
- Assist with local, regional, and national competition preparation
- Support competition-day coaching and athlete management as needed
- Help athletes develop mental readiness, pacing, and tactical awareness
- Work closely with Head Coaches and staff to align programming and athlete progression
- Contribute observations on athlete performance and development
- Participate in occasional staff meetings and program planning
Required
- Previous climbing coaching experience with competitive athletes
- Strong understanding of climbing movement, training principles, and competition formats
- Ability to coach athletes with professionalism, positivity, and structure
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Reliable, organized, and team-oriented
- Availability Monday–Thursday evenings and Saturdays
- Availability for select qualifying events and all major championship events
- Experience coaching elite or nationally competitive youth climbers
- USAC coaching certifications or equivalent experience
- Background in exercise science, youth development, or sports psychology
- Experience with strength and conditioning for climbers
- Competition climbing experience at a high level
