A growing renewable energy IPP is seeking a Senior High Voltage Engineer to lead the technical delivery of high voltage facilities for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects. This role will cover interconnection, substations, transmission lines, and switchyards from study phase through GIA negotiation and construction, with strong exposure to transmission owners, RTOs, and ISOs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the late-stage interconnection process for PV and BESS projects, including facilities studies and GIA negotiation.
- Manage HV scope, schedule, and cost for interconnection upgrades and self-build options.
- Review HV and SCADA designs from consultants and EPCs to ensure alignment with RTO/ISO and transmission owner standards.
- Support procurement of high-voltage equipment such as GSUs and HV breakers.
- Travel up to 10% for project site visits, primarily in the Midwest.
- Act as the internal HV subject matter expert on substations and transmission lines.
Skillset
- BS in Engineering.
- 3 years of substation, transmission, or protection and control design experience.
- Strong HV electrical knowledge and ability to interpret HV drawings.
- Familiarity with NESC, NEC, IEEE 1547, and IEEE 2800.
- Experience with generation interconnection in MISO, PJM, SPP, or ERCOT.
- EIT or PE licence preferred.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, PLSCAD, PSSE, PSCAD, or similar tools is a plus.
