What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager position at Climate Pros?
Role Overview
The FP&A Manager will help build and scale a world-class FP&A function in a high-growth, private equity-backed environment. You will own core planning cycles (forecast, budget, long-range plan), deliver board- and executive-ready insights, and build scalable models and reporting that connect operational drivers to financial results across the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow.
What you will own (outcomes)
- Planning & performance management: A driver-based quarterly forecast, annual budget, and 3-year strategic plan with clear, decision-ready variance explanations and corrective actions.
- Executive/Board storytelling: Monthly reporting packages and board materials that are accurate, crisp, and insightful.
- Three-statement modeling at speed: You can build (and explain) models that tie operational drivers to P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow –including working capital, leverage, and covenant views.
- Systems & automation: Continued improvement in how data flows from Oracle Fusion ERP and EPM into analysis/reporting, with modern BI/AI models and automation that reduces manual work and improves trust in numbers.
- M&A support (as applicable): Financial diligence support, deal modeling, integration planning/metrics for acquired businesses.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the cadence for forecast, budget, and long-range plan; maintain standardized templates, assumptions, and version control.
- Own KPI reporting and variance analysis (revenue, COGS, opex, capex); identify drivers, tell the story, and partner with leaders on corrective actions.
- Build and maintain driver-based models and scenario analyses (pricing, volume, labor productivity, overhead absorption, capex returns, etc).
- Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Operations, and departmental heads to ensure alignment between actuals, plans, and operational realities.
- Support strategic initiatives: investment cases, new market/branch or product initiatives, peer/industry comparisons, and other leadership requests.
- Create scalable reporting and analytics using Excel, Power Query, DAX, Power BI, SQL, AI, and Oracle ERP/EPM operations platform data sources.
- Leverage AI responsibly to accelerate analysis (examples: variance narratives, anomaly detection, forecasting assistants, automated KPI pack generation) with appropriate controls and validation.
- Support acquisition integration efforts: planning, reporting, KPI definitions, and performance cadence.
Required qualifications:
- 5 years of progressive FP&A / corporate finance or equivalent consulting experience (FP&A consulting, transaction advisory, PE-backed portfolio finance)
- Demonstrated ability to build and explain three-statement models quickly and accurately (GAAP grounding required).
- Advanced Excel skills (modeling, speed, structure, auditability) and strong PowerPoint / executive communication.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality work under tight timelines with minimal oversight.
- Strong business partnering instincts: can influence leaders, challenge assumptions constructively, and drive decisions with data.
Preferred qualifications (strong plus)
- CPA/CMA/MBA or equivalent “deep reps” in accounting/finance fundamentals.
- PE-backed environments, board/investor reporting cadence, M&A integration experience.
- Power BI (data modeling, DAX), Power Query, SQL; experience building semantic models and scalable reporting.
- Oracle Cloud Fusion ERP and EPM experience
How you work (behaviors that matter here)
- High standards of accuracy and organization; you build models that others trust.
- You continuously improve tools, processes, and insights.
- Pragmatic, credible leader; you roll up your sleeves and elevate the team.
- Growth-oriented, collaborative, and committed to doing “Whatever it takes, safely!”
