Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)

Overview:

Climate Pros is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to lead and evolve our safety culture across our national footprint. This role is critical in driving proactive safety management, reducing risk and injury, and ensuring regulatory compliance in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The ideal candidate will bring 8 years of progressive leadership experience in EHS, preferably within the commercial refrigeration, HVAC-R, construction, or skilled trades industries.

Key Responsibilities:

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS):

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve company-wide EHS programs, policies, and procedures with a focus on behavior-based safety (BBS), injury prevention, and risk reduction.
• Champion a proactive safety culture through training, communication, and frontline engagement.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
• Conduct regular audits, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments across job sites and facilities.
• Collaborate with union representatives and field leadership to ensure safety alignment and cultural adoption.
• Provide subject matter expertise in high-risk environments including high-voltage electrical systems, working at heights, confined spaces, refrigerant and compressed gas systems, and other industrial refrigeration hazards.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
• Maintain OSHA logs, safety documentation, and regulatory reporting systems.
• Support sustainability reporting and environmental compliance initiatives, including RCRA and EPA programs.
• Contribute to ISO14001 program development and implementation (certification preferred).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in EHS leadership, with a strong background in construction, industrial services, or skilled trades.
• OSHA 30 certification required.
• Additional certifications such as CSP, CHST, CIH, or equivalent strongly preferred.
• Experience with ISO14001, RCRA, and EPA compliance preferred.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive cultural transformation.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with unionized labor is a plus.
