The Role
As Lead HVAC/R Technician, you’ll handle our most complex service, repair, and installation work while mentoring and supporting a team of technicians. You’ll be the go-to person for difficult diagnostics, the one who makes sure jobs are done right the first time, and a trusted face for our customers.
Job Description
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems, including rooftop units, split systems, heat pumps, boilers, chillers, walk-in coolers/freezers, ice machines, reach-ins
- Lead troubleshooting on complex electrical, mechanical, and control system issues
- Oversee and perform installations, startups, and commissioning of new equipment
- Train, mentor, and provide field support to junior technicians
- Review work quality and make sure jobs meet company standards, manufacturer specs, and code
- Assign and coordinate daily tasks with the service manager and dispatch
- Explain findings and recommend repair or replacement options to customers clearly and honestly
- Handle refrigerant recovery, charging, and leak detection in compliance with EPA regulations
- Complete accurate service tickets, inspection reports, and parts/material records using ServiceTitan or HouseCall Pro
- Keep your service vehicle, tools, and inventory organized and stocked
- Participate in the on-call rotation for emergency service
Required
- 6 years of hands-on HVAC/R field experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role
- Valid driver's license
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including reading wiring diagrams and schematics
- Experience with both commercial and residential systems
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, work on rooftops and in tight spaces, and work in extreme temperatures
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-first attitude
Preferred:
- NATE certification or equivalent
- HVACR license
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification
- Experience training or supervising other technicians
