Clifton Budd & DeMaria, LLP, a management-side labor and employment firm in Manhattan, is seeking a litigation associate with two (2) to five (5) years of substantive litigation experience. The applicant must possess a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school and be admitted to practice in New York State and Federal courts. Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills are required. Experience handling class and / or collective action cases, conducting depositions, first or second seating trials / hearings, providing advice & counsel to business clients, and admission to practice in other jurisdictions are pluses.
The litigation associate’s primary focus will be on discrimination and wage-and-hour cases pending before administrative agencies and state and federal courts. This is a primarily in-office position. The associate will perform client-facing work with the firm’s employment litigation attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, including initial fact-finding, discovery, motion practice, and trial. The litigation associate will be expected to draft responsive pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and position statements. There may be the opportunity to work in the other labor/employment areas in which the firm practices based on client needs, including traditional labor negotiations, employee benefits, and labor/employment advice and counsel.
Compensation is commensurate with experience. The approximate salary range for this position is $110,000 to $170,000. The actual salary offered may be above or below the identified salary range for this position and will depend on a variety of factors based on the candidate’s overall qualifications for the position as determined by the Firm. The Firm also offers discretionary bonuses, paid time off, and various benefit plans.
