The Choice is seeking a school administrative assistant for our client- an all-boys Catholic high school. The campus is located in downtown DC and it is a highly regarded institution.

The position will work in the Office of Student Services. It interfaces frequently with students, faculty, and parents regarding attendance, disciplinary, and student support needs.

Qualifications:

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Previous experience working in school administration (at least two years). Must have prior experience communicating with parents and interfacing frequently with students. Previous experience working in a high school would be a large plus.
  • This role requires a composed, confident, detail-oriented and organized individual who can maintain confidentiality and professionalism while interacting with students, staff, and parents.

Because this staffing need is starting mid-school year, this will be a contract position likely until their permanent hiring cycle next year. There is potential for a temporary to hire scenario if this is a good fit and the ideal candidate will be seeking a temporary to hire scenario down the road.

Schedule: . Upcoming school closures will include: 11/26/2025-11/30/2025, 12/5/2025, 12/20/2025-1/4/2026 for holidays. This person will not work when the school is closed.

Salary: This is an hourly role. $30 an hour.

Job Duties:

The Administrative Assistant will provide essential support for the daily operations of the Office of Student Services, focusing primarily on managing student attendance, contacting and speaking with parents, record keeping, directing students in the office, and scheduling appointments. Job duties will include:

  • Record and track student attendance data accurately using the designated school database or software.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student absences, tardiness, early dismissals, and disciplinary issues.
  • Manage and maintain the calendar for Office of Student Services staff, including meetings with school counselors and administrators.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all incoming phone calls to the Office of Student Services.
  • Answer general inquiries, direct calls to the appropriate staff member, and take accurate messages.
  • Maintain a professional and helpful demeanor on the phone at all times.
  • Perform general clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and data entry.
  • Assist with special projects and events as assigned by the Student Services Director.
  • Processing student identification cards and access badges.
  • Maintain a clean and organized office environment.
