This full-time, on-site position is based in Chantilly, VA, and involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define technical solutions, and ensure high-quality delivery. Daily responsibilities include coding, testing, debugging, performance tuning, and optimizing legacy systems, as well as implementing enhancements and modernizing mainframe integrations. The role also involves troubleshooting production issues, creating technical documentation, and adhering to secure coding and compliance standards. The Senior Mainframe Developer will mentor junior developers, contribute to architecture discussions, and support continuous improvement of development practices.

Qualifications
- Strong experience with mainframe development technologies such as COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, and DB2, with the ability to design, code, and optimize complex programs.
- Proficiency in mainframe utilities, debugging tools, and batch/online processing, including performance tuning, job scheduling, and error handling.
- Solid understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, technical design, coding standards, unit testing, integration testing, and deployment.
- Experience integrating mainframe applications with distributed systems, APIs, and modern technologies, plus familiarity with version control and CI/CD tools.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot production issues and provide effective, timely solutions.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams, as well as mentoring less experienced developers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in financial services, insurance, or other transaction-heavy industries is a plus; knowledge of security, compliance, and data privacy practices is beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in Chantilly, VA, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
