What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Clinical Operations position at Cleveland University - Kansas City?
Purpose: The Director of Clinical Operations is to ensure the proper execution of the clinic operations and strategies.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership
- Provide input to the Assistant Dean in establishing clinical goals, strategy and direction.
- Assist clinic faculty and staff in the achievement of established clinical goals and objectives.
Compliance
- Maintains current knowledge with regard to legal, regulatory, and documentation & billing requirements of the clinic.
- Provide input to Assistant Dean in establishing compliant clinic policies and procedures.
- Ensure execution of compliant, effective clinic operations. Oversight of Quality Assurance program.
- HIPAA training/compliance
- Oversee Medicare compliance and claims processes (billing/coding, insurance submissions, remittance, appeals, etc.)
Program Assessment
- Collect and maintain program and clinic data as required for effective assessment of clinic operations.
- Assist in the analysis of data and the implementation of appropriate clinic enhancements.
- Scheduling and administration of MCO remediation program.
Data Management
- Oversee data collection, entry, analysis, and reporting to support clinical operations, compliance, and strategic decision-making.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and timely dissemination to leadership and stakeholders.
- Prepare clear, timely reports and dashboards for stakeholders including leadership, regulatory bodies, and clinical teams.
Curriculum Management
- Provide input to the clinic curriculum and courses as they relate to clinic operations and compliance.
- Ensure clinic operations function in tandem with the educational program.
- Ensure appropriate student EHR training.
Administration
- Complies with program and clinic policies as they related to faculty, students and patients.
- Administers clinic activities such as the Quality Assurance process, HIPPA procedures and front desk operations.
- Assist in authorship of periodic reports.
- Schedule and assist the director of clinical education with administration of Objective Structured Clinical Exams.
- Liaison with EHR provider/troubleshoot technical problems related to EHR functionality
Clinic Responsibilities
- Provide course instruction and/or clinic floor coverage as needed.
- Demonstrates dynamic presentation skills to engage student interests and learning.
- Effectively and objectively evaluates student performance.
- Maintain operation of clinic equipment and supply inventory.
- Intern shift schedules
Personnel Management
- Provide supervision of assigned staff as well as coaching, and mentoring of faculty and staff.
- Ensure the timely and effective evaluation of assigned staff.
- Lead clinical team meetings.
- Oversight of front desk staff.
- Clinician scheduling and coverage.
Fiscal Oversight
- Ensure expenditures are within the allocated budget.
- Provide recommendations and justifications for annual budget development.
- Oversee clinic financials (services/collections/write-offs)
Project Management
- Ensure a systematic method of completing assigned projects within agreed upon time frames.
- Revise, update, and report project modifications to the appropriate stakeholders.
Campus / Community Relations
- Participate in admissions events, student orientation, graduation, etc.
- Represent the Doctor of Chiropractic Program at community events as required.
Accreditation
- Maintain current knowledge regarding CCE accreditation requirements.
- Ensure that the operational components of the clinic are aligned with accreditation requirements.
Miscellaneous
- Perform additional tasks as needed and/or requested.
- Participate in functions and activities that advance the mission, values and vision of the Institution.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctor of Chiropractic degree
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel (or comparable data analysis tools) for organizing, analyzing, and presenting clinical operations data is strongly preferred.
- 5 years of successful clinical experience
- 3 years of academic or related experience
- Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of clinic compliance requirements
Clinical competence and confidence, specifically in dynamic spinal and extremity assessment and assessment of clinical outcomes
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years of successful clinical leadership experience
- Experience in managing clinic compliance policies and procedures for multi-doctor clinic
- Experience in assessment and data analysis of clinic operations
