What are the responsibilities and job description for the Visiting Assistant College Lecturer - Science Education position at Cleveland State University?
The School of Education and Counseling (SEC) within the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education at Cleveland State University is seeking an active, academically diverse faculty member of the highest caliber to fill a visiting faculty position at the rank of Assistant College Lecturer in the Teacher Licensure program, starting August 18, 2025. The term of the appointment shall be for one academic year, renewable for up to two additional years.

The successful candidate will work across multiple licensure bands in our degree and licensure programs. Our student body earns their degree with initial license in our undergraduate and masters’ degree programs. We also offer post-baccalaureate initial licensure, endorsement programs and advanced licensure programs.
The successful candidate will teach courses based on a 4-4 teaching load (4 courses in Fall; 4 courses in Spring). Some of the courses may be taught online. In person clinical supervision of candidates seeking initial teacher licensure in early and final student-teaching experiences in our urban and inner-ring partner school districts will form a significant part of the job. In addition, service to the university will be expected in line with the faculty member’s professional interests, the governance of the University, the standards of the faculty member’s discipline, or the welfare of the civic community.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in education;
- Minimum of three years teaching experience in K-12 science education;
- Knowledge of and strong interest in teacher education;
- Ability to travel to partner school sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned Doctorate in Education focused on K-12 science education;
- Five years of experience teaching science in K-12 settings;
- Experience with supervision of pre-service teachers in K-12 school settings;
- Experience teaching in higher education settings;
- Experience teaching online;
- Potential to contribute to scholarly activity.
