Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher Assistant to join our vibrant educational team! Duties

  • Assist classroom teachers with implementing lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and social-emotional learning.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities.
  • Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and applying behavior management strategies tailored to individual student needs.
  • Help students with daily activities such as reading, writing, basic math, and childcare routines, including toddler care and preschool activities.
  • Use American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication techniques to facilitate effective interaction with students who have communication challenges.
  • Assist with physical support and mobility for students requiring physical assistance or behavioral disorder support.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, special education professionals, therapists, and families to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs).

Requirements

  • Prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings is highly preferred, especially in special education or private school environments.
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices such as Montessori or preschool methodologies.
  • Familiarity with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies for students with special needs.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders and behavioral disorders.
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally and ethically while supporting student privacy rights.
  • Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—to effectively collaborate with team members and communicate with students.
  • Basic math skills for assisting in curriculum delivery and student assessments.
  • Certification or training in deaf education or American Sign Language (preferred but not required).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide physical assistance when necessary to support student mobility or safety needs.
