Avon Hospital’s 5th Floor Complex Medical Care unit has a collaborative, dedicated and multi-disciplinary team of caregivers that provide perioperative and postoperative care to medical-surgical and orthopaedic patients with the goal of ensuring discharge readiness and patient safety. With telemetry monitoring capabilities, this unit also provides continuous cardiac monitoring for adult non-ICU medical-surgical patients. As an RN on this team, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

A caregiver in this role works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide direct nursing care
  •  Implement, monitor, evaluate, and revise patient care plans
  • Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients’ conditions
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments
  • Follow and carry out physician and nursing orders
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs
  • Educate patients and their families
  • Prioritize patients, including fresh post-ops, high fall risk, and pain management needs
  • Assist with early ambulation, often same-day or next-day post-op
  • Reinforce weight-bearing restrictions and mobility precautions
  • Apply and monitor braces, splints, or immobilizers
  • Collaborate closely with PT and OT during patient mobilization
  • Educate patients on post-op care and recovery expectations
  • Recognize and escalate complications such as infection signs, blood clots, and other post-op concerns
  • Adjust care plans quickly in a fast-paced environment

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross 
  • One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $35.50

Maximum hourly: $55.60

A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.). The pay range does not include the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).

Salary : $36 - $56
