Outpatient Clinical Care Assistant/Medical Assistant - Gastroenterology

As an Outpatient Clinical Care Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting both patients and caregivers in a fast-paced outpatient setting. Responsibilities include performing health screenings, collecting specimens, updating medical records,maintainingexam rooms, stocking clinical supplies, and monitoring and documenting patient conditions to support quality care.

This role will also consider for a Medical Assistant. As a Medical Assistant on this team, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for patients, families, and visitors. Working collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff, you will support medication management, patient monitoring, and a variety of clinical and office tasks. This position offers broad clinical exposure through hands-on involvement in patient care, compliance, and coordination with interdisciplinary teams.

A caregiver in this positionwill work 8:00am to 4:30pm or 7:30am to 4:00pm. No weekends, holidays or evenings required.

As an Outpatient Clinical Care Assistant:

• Provide or assist with patient care in an outpatient clinic under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP).
• Complete the rooming process, including vitals, height, weight, intake questions, documentation and reporting abnormal findings.
• Collect patient specimens, perform point of caretestingand prepare specimens for transport to the lab.
• Prepare patients for andassistwith exams,testsand procedures, such as EKG, Holter monitor application, pulse oximetry, hearing and vision screening,disinfectionand sterilization.
• Administer treatments as directed, including the application of heat or cold, simple sterile dressing changes and applying/removing casts,bracesand splints.
• Review printed instructions with patients.
• Assistwith wound care.
• Documentinthe electronic health record.
• Assistwith setting up the clinic for daily operations, in-baskets, closure of care gaps,maintainingclean and orderly work areas, and closing the clinic.
• Stock supplies and linens.
• Clean,monitorexpirationdates, restock dressing supply carts, check AED units and oxygen tanks, and empty needle boxes usingappropriate safetymeasures.
• Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.

OR

As a Medical Assistant:

• Assistwith performing screenings and treatments by gathering and updating information related to health maintenance,identifyingmedication changes, updating allergy information, collecting specimens, performingtests,and documenting patient care.
• Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition. Administers specific medications under direction of provider.
• Maintain equipment, medicalsupplies,and examination areas.
• Perform administrative/clerical duties, such as filing, reception, scheduling, dataentryand patient registration.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

As an Outpatient Clinical Care Assistant:

• A high school diploma orGED
• One year of recent healthcare experience in a hospital or ambulatory, homecare, assisted living, nursing home or long-term care setting
• Understanding ofhuman anatomy, basic patient careactivitiesand math
• Additionalformal training/education may substitute some orall ofthe required experience
• If not already obtained, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or the American Red Crossisrequiredwithin the new hire period

OR

As a Medical Assistant:

• Graduate from an approved medical assistingprogramOR military training as a hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1)
• Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or the American Red Cross. If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $18.25

Maximum hourly: $24.95
