Cleveland Clinic's Critical Care Transport (CCT) team is recognized as a world leader in transporting critical adult and pediatric patients anywhere around the globe. The CCT team is an expert team of critical care providers available 24/7 to transport critically ill and injured patients. By initiating tertiary care during transfer, outcomes are often improved for many critically ill pediatric patients.
Caregivers in this role will train on site at the preceptors location based on scheduling. This role does require the potential to work out of Main Campus, Twinsburg, Avon, Medina and other hospital bases as assigned.
A caregiver in this position works a 4-week rotation, 6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide immediate medical treatment to critically ill or injured pediatric or adult patients throughout the interfacility or scene transport process.
Navigate an ambulance to respond to emergency calls.
Assess the nature and extent of the illness or injury, administer appropriate emergency medical care, communicate with medical personnel at the hospital, report/record observations and follow directives until report and hand-off at hospital.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:
Current certification as an EMT-P in the State of Ohio or National Registry Certification
- American Heart Association (AHA) basic life support (BLS) upon hire
- AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) upon hire
- United States Passport upon hire
- National Incident Management System (NIMS) IS100, IS 200 within 6 months of hire
- AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of hire
- International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) provider, and ITLS advanced within 6 months of hire
- Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C) within 24 months of hire
- Three years experience as an EMT-P
- Experience with airway management devices
Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:
Associate's Degree
Experience in a larger metropolitan area.
Experience in an emergency room or in critical care transport.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform in limited quarters, ground and air transport modes and in all types of terrain and weather conditions. Frequent bending, twisting, climbing steps or ladders, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
Medium Work - exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
