As a Clinical Abstraction Specialist, you will operationalize assessment initiatives through assigned medical staff departments, PI teams and/or service lines to evaluate effectiveness and opportunities for improvement, abstract data elements from medical records, and generate reports that assist in performance improvement. The QDR team manages the TJC, CMS and AHA data for more than 15 Cleveland Clinic hospitals and reviews the care of patients with multiple diagnoses and hospital encounters.
A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm or 8:00am to 4:40pm. Start times may vary from 4:30am to 9:00am.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Participate and/or coordinate the assigned hospital committees in an organizational manner.
- Collect/analyze and maintain timely, accurate and reliable data for all customers, including assigned teams reflective of clinical systems and processes delivered.
- Generate reports to identify trends and/or opportunities for improvement in order to provide optimum health care delivery in the most effective cost manner.
- Develop, collect, analyze and maintain data, files, reports, and other information concerning critical care issues, deficiencies, and improvement opportunities, either manually or within a database management system.
- Assist in developing and implementing recommendations for improvement.
- Maintain ongoing knowledge of specification manuals that change twice per year.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High school diploma/GED.
- Knowledge of computers, word processing, databases and spreadsheets.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Degree within a healthcare field.
- Licensure in a healthcare field, such as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
- Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $18.88
Maximum hourly: $28.80
