The Shift Manager Mechanical Maintenance is a front-line supervisory position that is responsible for managing the day-to-day mechanical maintenance activities within the respective area(s) of responsibility to ensure a reliable, safe, and continually improved operation.
Summary Of Responsibilities
The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $110,000. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

Summary Of Responsibilities
- Managing the maintenance of mechanical equipment and providing the day-to-day supervision of the Maintenance Technician Mechanics (MTM) within assigned department/area
- Develop into a maintenance expert for the maintenance systems within assigned area
- Act as a coach to employees and ensure that they have the tools and knowledge required to safely perform their job
- Manage spending budget using project management skills, and a thorough understanding of the processes needed to properly maintain the equipment within assigned area
- Interact with Purchasing, Operations, Maintenance, Op Tech/Continuous Improvement, Accounting, Engineering, Vendors and Suppliers and counterparts from other plants
- Develop a maintenance strategy that would ensure a high level of equipment reliability
- Weekends and shift work may be required
- Other duties as assigned
- HS Diploma, GED or equivalent from an accredited school
- 2 yrs. of mechanical maintenance experience in a heavy manufacturing/industrial environment or the military.
- Must be able to work in a hot, dusty environment, including climbing stairs, ladders, and walking inclines. Also, able to work/walk safely on uneven surfaces and outdoors in all weather.
- Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 3 years of mechanical maintenance experience
- 2 years of supervisory experience in a heavy manufacturing/industrial operation or the military
- Experience working in a Steel mill with a unionized workforce
- Experience working with a computer-based PM and/or equipment reliability program
