QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid teacher’s license with appropriate endorsement
  • Master’s degree preferred

JOB GOAL

The Instructional Facilitator (I.F.) is a teacher who has both content and instructional expertise particularly in reading, writing, and/or math. This person facilitates the district’s professional development model by demonstrating lessons, observing classroom instruction, and coaching teachers one-on-one. The I.F. focuses on enhancing teacher ability to provide instruction that (1) builds student understanding and skills, (2) is academically rigorous, (3) addresses the curriculum standards and frameworks, and (4) enhances student sense of engagement in and ownership of learning. The I.F., together with administrators and classroom teachers, looks at student work and designs standards-based, high-quality instruction. The I.F. serves as a member of a building leadership team working to align district and building goals and to evaluate student data in support of effective school improvement planning. The I.F. works collaboratively with other instructional leaders to design and deliver professional development as directed. As a member of a professional coaching community, the I.F. participates in professional development and inquiry into his or her own instructional leadership practice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Implements a collaborative coaching and learning approach

  • Assists teachers and non-certified personnel in a collaborative model of observation, conversation, and lesson demonstration, to analyze and reflect on their practice to promote quality instructional practices

  • Models effective, differentiated instruction

  • Provides individualized, classroom-based coaching with participants to support them in implementing good instructional practices

  • Facilitate professional discourse among teachers and non-certified personnel in which issues related to implementing effective content instruction are considered, current research and writing on effective practice is read and discussed, engaging lessons are planned, and student work and data are reviewed to inform instruction

  • Facilitates grade-level meetings in which issues related to implementing effective content, skill and problem solving instruction are considered, current research and writing on effective practice is read and discussed, and student work and data are reviewed.

  • Provides comprehensive/balanced training in and across given subject areas and curricular areas

  • Participates fully in professional development for Instructional Facilitators including peer observations, professional research and reading, and inquiry sessions

  • Assists teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum and assessments

  • Attends district-level and state-level meetings pertaining to the duties of the job

  • Performs other related duties assigned by the Principal

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 50 lbs., or the average weight of a child, if assigned to elementary school, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:

  • Verbal: Ability to understand meanings of words and the ideas associated with them

  • Numerical: Ability to perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately

  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to move hands easily and manipulate small objects with the fingers rapidly and accurately

  • Form Perception: Ability to make visual comparisons and discriminations and see slight differences in shapes and shadings of figures

Salary : $54,616 - $89,584
