Job Title: Raw Material
Location: Manhattan, NY (Hybrid)
Duration: Contract
We are seeking a detail-oriented Raw Materials Specialist to support fabric and trim development within the intimates category. This individual contributor role is responsible for ensuring the quality, consistency, and technical integrity of fabrics, colors, and components from development through production.
This position partners closely with Design, Product Development, and Textile Technology teams to manage raw material execution, maintain accurate records, and uphold brand standards across all materials.
Key Responsibilities
Raw Material Development & Execution
- Support the development of fabrics, trims, and colors across knit and woven materials for intimates products
- Assist in technical development from concept through pre-production and bulk execution
- Ensure all materials meet quality, performance, and aesthetic standards
Color & Fabric Quality Assurance
- Evaluate and maintain color consistency and fabric quality across development stages
- Conduct regular store visits to assess materials under retail lighting conditions and ensure alignment with brand standards
- Identify and escalate inconsistencies, partnering cross-functionally to resolve issues
PLM & Material Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within PLM systems
- Track development timelines, approvals, and material specifications
- Manage both physical raw material libraries and digital documentation with a high level of organization
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner daily with Design, Product Development, and Technical teams to support material readiness
- Communicate updates, risks, and timelines effectively across stakeholders
- Participate in frequent meetings and ongoing follow-ups to ensure project alignment
Operational Support
- Assist in cataloguing and organizing all fabrics, trims, and color standards
- Support the Manager of Textile Technology in driving material execution and process consistency
- Provide guidance to junior team members or assistants as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Textile Technology, Materials Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years of experience in raw materials, fabric development, or textile technology
- Experience supporting intimates or apparel categories, with strong exposure to knits and wovens
- Familiarity with PLM systems and material tracking processes
- Strong understanding of fabric construction, color development, and garment components
