Staff Accountant

We are seeking a highly motivated Staff Accountant, to join our finance and accounting team. This role will be responsible for overseeing the core accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and providing insights that support our rapidly growing SaaS business. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting background, exceptional analytical skills, thrives in a dynamic environment, and is eager to contribute to the success of our team and to the company. This Austin-based position reports to the Controller.

This position offers a base salary of $75,000, a comprehensive benefits package, including 401(k), and company equity.

The Day-to-Day

You will play a key role in the day-to-day accounting operations of our SAAS business to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. From participating in month-end close activities to supporting the development of innovative financial systems, your aim is to drive efficiency and growth across our company. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and banking activity to ensure timely and accurate closes.
• Oversee the accounts payable function in Airbase: set up vendors and process invoices, prepare and monitor vendor payments, and issue vendor 1099s.
• Work with the CFO to monitor cash activity; perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Collaborate with the team and cross-functional stakeholders to design, document, implement and monitor effective internal controls.
• Prepare and verify payroll submissions to ensure accurate and timely processing of each cycle.
• Work closely with other departments to ensure alignment on financial, regulatory, and insurance-related matters.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth.
• Work closely with the Legal department and the CFO to support regulatory filings, support licensing renewals, and insurance data requests.
• Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by senior management.
• Perform other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned by senior management.

• Bachelor of Science in Accounting required
• 1-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in SaaS, software, or high-growth companies.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, accrual accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting.
• Hands-on experience with Netsuite, Airbase, and Rippling experience preferred.
• Proven ability to implement process improvements and drive operational efficiencies.
• Detail-oriented, with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment.
• You are legally authorized to work permanently in the US without employer sponsorship
• And you have a bachelor’s degree in anything. We mean it! Business, History, Cooking (actually, that could be incredibly useful) … anything.
