Authorization manager

Job Description

Authorization Manager needed for an outpatient diagnostic imaging facility. Hours will be for Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.

**Must have experience of at least 2 years.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

· Monitor daily staff productivity and offer guidance to increase output when standards are not being met

· Review schedule daily to prioritize and delegate urgent requests

· Cross-training of other departments including scheduling and front desk on authorization requirements

· Review orders and demographics for accuracy

· Submit authorization requests to the insurance carriers (Web portal, phone, fax)

· Request clinical notes from referring offices

· Follow up on pending requests

· Document work done in EHR

· Send P2P requests for denied authorizations when applicable

· Communicate with scheduling team when appointments are needed to be rescheduled due to a denied or pending authorization

· Monitor emails and Slack for high/low modality for walk-ins or same day add-ons

· Verify insurance effective dates and benefits

· Notate and clear appointments

· Verify past-due balances as needed

· Meet with staff on a regular basis to review departmental/organization updates

· Perform yearly staff performance reviews

Competencies

· Clear understanding of insurance benefits

· Advanced knowledge of current procedural terminology (CPT) & ICD-10 codes

· Advanced knowledge of radiologic exams (CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Xray)

· Advanced knowledge of authorization guidelines

· General anatomy and physiology

· Ability to learn and grow with new technology

· General computer skills

· Professional inter-personal communication skills

· Able to work independently
