What are the responsibilities and job description for the Video Editor position at Cleriva?
Cleriva is a fast growing e-commerce brand transforming respiratory wellness through innovative red light therapy solutions that ease congestion and elevate daily well-being. Creative thinking is at the heart of how we connect with our audience, and we constantly push to produce content that is fresh and engaging. We’re seeking a video editor who can bring original ideas to the table while delivering polished, high performing content. The ideal candidate is not only skilled and creative but also highly coachable, open to feedback, and eager to continue learning as our brand evolves
As a video editor, you’ll be at the center of our creative output, turning raw content and ideas into scroll stopping creatives and brand assets that drive real results. Your work will directly impact our revenue and brand presence across multiple platforms.
Your responsibilities will include:
Creative Research & Inspiration
- Regularly study competitor ads, the Meta Ad Library, TikTok Creative Center, and other platforms to spot trends, hooks, and editing techniques.
- Bring new creative ideas to the team each week. New formats, transitions, captions, sound effects, and storytelling angles we haven’t tried yet.
Video Editing for Performance
- Edit UGC style videos and direct-response ads for platforms like Meta, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and content for our website.
- Focus on performance-driven editing with strong hooks, optimized pacing, clear CTAs, and audience specific storytelling.
- Adapt and version videos into multiple aspect ratios
Graphic Design Support
- Use Canva (or similar tools) to create thumbnails, ad statics, and product imagery that match our brand identity.
- Design on-screen text, callouts, and graphics that enhance clarity and drive engagement.
Creative Testing & Iteration
- Work closely with the marketing team to understand performance data and make informed edits that improve CTR, view-through rate, and conversions.
- Maintain a library of “winning” ad formats and help evolve them over time.
Collaboration & Feedback
- Participate in creative meetings, pitch ideas, and refine concepts with the team.
- Be open to feedback, ask questions when unclear, and apply learnings to future projects.
Speed & Efficiency
- Manage deadlines without sacrificing quality.
- Be proactive in spotting opportunities to improve workflows and creative output.
- Proven experience editing for e-commerce brands (portfolio required: ads, demos, UGC, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail, with a creative eye and excellent communication skills
- Ability to follow direction precisely but also to bring ideas and refinements
- Remote editing setup (computer, software, internet)
- Bonus: Graphic design experience (especially in Canva or similar tools)
If you don’t have a proficient e-commerce editing background, we kindly ask that you pass on this opportunity.
- Submit your application (CV, portfolio, and your expected hourly rate or salary range)
- If shortlisted, we’ll invite you to complete a paid test project. You’ll work with a provided script and instructions. Compensation will honor your proposed rate.
- Good creative instincts, clear communication, and a polished cut win the day.
We believe in rewarding both quality of work and the measurable impact of your creative output. While exact base pay will be tailored to your experience, our structure is designed to be fair, transparent, and performance-driven.
Project-Based Compensation Model:
- On average, a completed one minute edited video is budgeted at approximately two hours of work, factoring in sourcing, editing, revisions, and delivery.
- More complex projects such as those requiring advanced motion graphics, heavy compositing, or brand-level polish are compensated at a higher rate to reflect the additional time and skill involved.
- Simple edits, such as minimal-adjustment UGC videos, are compensated proportionally while still ensuring fair pay for the time invested.
Performance Bonuses (ROAS-Based):
- Bonuses are awarded only when a video meets or exceeds a set Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) threshold.
- Bonuses are incremental, meaning the higher the ROAS, the greater the bonus amount.
- Over time, these bonuses can significantly increase your earnings, with the potential to double your base salary if multiple videos consistently perform at high ROAS levels.
Career Development & Growth:
- Opportunities to take on higher level creative strategy, concept ownership, and leadership roles as the brand scales.
- Access to creative tools, training resources, and ongoing mentorship to help you refine your skills and grow professionally.
