The new Clemson University Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) seeks highly qualified candidates to fill course instruction needs for specialty topics in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine curriculum.
Please note: This advertisement is not for a specific role but for various temporary faculty opportunities within the CVM as they become available.
This part-time opportunity to teach one or more courses in a variety of specialty areas is available as needed. Courses may be offered in spring and/or fall terms at the CVM campus in Pendleton, SC. Instruction may include didactic lectures, laboratory sessions, clinical teaching and/or consultation on clinical cases. The start date and details of course delivery vary according to departmental teaching needs.
The areas of content expertise for teaching at the professional level required but not limited to include:
Located in South Carolina’s beautiful and fast-growing Upstate, Clemson University is the land-grant university of South Carolina and ranks among the country’s top 50 national public universities in the U.S. News & World Report. The University has nearly 23,400 students (including nearly 18,600 undergraduates) who can select from 80 undergraduate and 110 graduate degree programs. Clemson employs over 1,150 full-time faculty and has an annual budget expenditure of over $900M. Clemson University maintains its status as an R1 Carnegie Research Institution while maintaining a strong focus on undergraduate education.
The CVM is currently seeking accreditation by the American Veterinary Medicine Association-Council on Education to offer the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree to approximately 80 students per cohort starting in 2026 (pending approval). The CVM plans to utilize a partially distributive model of clinical training for students. Its brand-new state of the art campus will reside in Pendleton, SC, near the T. Ed Garrison Arena, will house research and teaching labs, and utilize both ambulatory services as well as teaching sites at the Clemson University Equine Center, Lamaster Dairy Cattle Center, and other locations for education in the field.
In 2023, the Board of Trustees approved Clemson Elevate, the university’s new strategic plan. Clemson Elevate is built on 3 pillars: deliver the #1 student experience, double research by 2035, and transform lives statewide and beyond. The CVM was named as a strategic priority for the university, demonstrating the importance of the new college to the future of the university and the state. We are excited to attract a team of top talent as we build the new college.

Qualifications
- DVM or equivalent degree with prior teaching and/or mentoring experience
- Board certification, residency training in a veterinary specialty recognized by the ABVS (ACVIM, ABVP, etc), and/or PhD
