Role Description
The Outside Sales Specialist is a full-time, field-based position responsible for generating new residential and commercial business while expanding existing customer relationships throughout an assigned territory.
This role conducts comprehensive property inspections and site evaluations to identify pest, termite, lawn and ornamental, rodent, wildlife, mosquito, exclusion, and other property-protection needs. The Outside Sales Specialist develops customized service recommendations, prepares estimates and proposals, presents solutions, and follows up with prospective customers to close sales.
Key responsibilities include:
* Prospecting for new residential and commercial business.
* Scheduling and conducting customer appointments and property inspections.
* Identifying general pest, termite, lawn and ornamental, rodent, wildlife, mosquito, exclusion, and related service opportunities.
* Recommending customized treatment and preventative maintenance programs.
* Preparing accurate estimates, agreements, and sales proposals.
* Presenting service options and clearly explaining program features and benefits.
* Following up with prospective customers and closing sales.
* Managing existing customer relationships, renewals, referrals, and additional service opportunities.
* Coordinating with operations, service technicians, and management to ensure accurate and timely service delivery.
* Maintaining complete and accurate customer, lead, proposal, and sales records in the company’s CRM system.
* Managing an assigned territory, sales pipeline, appointments, and follow-up activities.
* Participating in local marketing, networking, referral, and community outreach efforts.
* Staying informed about company services, pricing, treatment methods, industry trends, and competitive activity.
* Consistently achieving or exceeding established sales, revenue, and performance goals.
* Delivering a professional and exceptional customer experience from the initial inspection through service implementation.
Qualifications
* Strong consultative sales, prospecting, presentation, negotiation, follow-up, and closing skills.
* Ability to conduct thorough residential and commercial property inspections and identify customer needs and service opportunities.
* Ability to evaluate, explain, and recommend solutions for residential pest control, commercial pest management, termite protection, lawn and ornamental care, rodent control, exclusion services, wildlife management, mosquito control, and other property protection programs.
* Knowledge of termite inspections, prevention methods, treatment options, conducive conditions, structural risk factors, and long-term termite protection programs is strongly preferred.
* Understanding of Lawn & Ornamental services, including fertilization, weed management, turf insect control, ornamental insect control, plant disease management, and tree and shrub care.
* Familiarity with integrated pest management (IPM), preventative service programs, inspection procedures, treatment applications, and service coordination.
* Strong customer service and account management skills with the ability to build trust and maintain long-term client relationships.
* Ability to educate customers about pest prevention, termite protection, lawn and ornamental health, rodent prevention, exclusion methods, and available service plans.
* Experience managing customer accounts, renewals, referrals, upselling, cross-selling, and expanding existing customer portfolios.
* Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
* Self-motivated, dependable, and highly organized, with the ability to independently manage a territory, appointment schedule, sales pipeline, and follow-up process.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with service technicians, operations teams, office personnel, and company leadership.
* Basic proficiency with CRM systems, email, Microsoft Office applications, and other standard business software.
* Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel regularly throughout an assigned territory.
* Previous experience in pest control, termite services, commercial pest management, lawn and ornamental care, rodent control, exclusion, wildlife management, home services, construction, real estate, property management, or outside sales is preferred.
