What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Specialist- 2nd position at Clemens Food Group?
- Monitor facility for compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and develop solution options as needed to achieve OSHA compliance and to support Operations
- Facilitate safety meetings and coordinate with attendees to define /follow-up on action items. Define and document lessons learned and apply best practices where applicable
- Participate in new hire safety orientation for both exempt and non-exempt team members
- Lead/facilitate critical safety training classes as required (LOTO, PIT, etc.) and ensure compliance across the facility
- Conduct and document general and special emphasis audits and use findings to drive continuous improvement
- Provide safety support to tertiary sites via travel and conference calls as needed. Provide off-shift coverage/support as needed
- Provide subject matter expertise to engineers and product development team to evaluate and control potential risk with new equipment and new product launch
- Support the contractor safety program
- Participate in incident investigations and serious near misses; provide guidance to Operations when conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
- Assist with auditing injury and illness case data for accuracy
- Develop Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and audit the procedure database for accuracy
- Complete machine assessments for proper machine safeguarding and audit existing equipment for safeguarding compliance
- Audit, update and maintain chemical safety data sheets in MSDS Online system
- Participate in cross-functional teams (Safety/Operations/HR) for evaluating accountability for violations to LOTO and PIT programs
- Participate in annual Emergency Response training
- Audit SOPs/JSAs and work with Operations Supervisors to ensure their accuracy
- Analyze injury and illness data and use to prioritize actions that drive performance improvements
- Lead safety related capital project implementations
- Provide safety guidance and support to the sanitation team
- Lead industry best practice items such as behavioral based safety audits, GEMBA walks, Area specific safety plans
