Position Summary
The Production Manager oversees the day-to-day production of roofing projects from job start through completion in a small, owner-operated roofing company. This is a hands-on role requiring strong field leadership, organization, and communication. The Production Manager works closely with the owner, crews, suppliers, and homeowners to ensure jobs are completed efficiently, safely, and to company quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Job Management
- Manage all active roofing jobs from material ordering through final completion.
- Schedule jobs and crews in coordination with the owner.
- Review job scopes and ensure each project is production-ready.
- Monitor daily progress and resolve issues quickly to avoid delays.
Crew Oversight
- Coordinate daily with subcontractor or in-house crews.
- Set expectations for workmanship, scope, and timelines.
- Perform jobsite visits and roof inspections during and after installation.
- Address quality issues and ensure corrections are completed.
Customer Communication
- Act as the primary point of contact for homeowners during production.
- Communicate start dates, timelines, and any changes.
- Handle customer questions and concerns professionally and promptly.
Materials & Suppliers
- Order materials accurately and coordinate timely deliveries.
- Resolve shortages, delivery issues, or material discrepancies.
- Track material usage to minimize waste and protect profitability.
Quality Control
- Ensure work meets company standards, manufacturer specifications, and local codes.
- Reduce callbacks and warranty claims through proactive oversight.
- Document completed jobs with photos and notes.
Safety & Jobsite Standards
- Enforce basic safety expectations on all job sites.
- Maintain clean, professional jobsite standards.
- Report incidents or safety concerns directly to the owner.
Administrative & Reporting
- Update job statuses, notes, and completion documentation.
- Provide regular feedback to the owner on job progress, costs, and crew performance.
- Assist with operational improvements as the company grows.
Qualifications
Required
- 3 years of hands-on residential and commercial roofing repair experience.
- Strong knowledge of residential roofing systems and installation methods.
- Ability to manage multiple jobs independently.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred
- Experience in a small or owner-operated roofing company.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
- Familiarity with basic scheduling, photos, and job tracking using a smartphone or computer.
- OSHA knowledge or willingness to follow company safety practices.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $75,000–$85,000 annually, based on experience
- Performance Bonus: Annual bonus tied to production efficiency, quality control, customer satisfaction, and job profitability
