Overview
The Sewing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily sewing operations, managing a team of sewing machine operators, and ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met. This role coordinates workflow, assigns tasks, troubleshoots production issues, and works closely with other departments to optimize efficiency. The Sewing Supervisor leads by example, coaches and develops team members, and fosters a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
Duties
- Plan, organize, and oversee daily sewing operations to meet production schedules and quality requirements.
- Assign work to sewing operators based on skill level, workload, and production needs.
- Monitor workflow and adjust labor or resources as needed to maintain efficiency.
- Coordinate with maintenance when repairs are required.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area consistent with company safety standards and 5S principles.
- Ensure all sewing operations meet quality specifications and SOP requirements.
- Perform regular quality checks on finished goods and work in process, taking corrective action when necessary.
- Minimize scrap, rework, and defects through proper training and process control.
- Enforce company safety requirements, including proper use of PPE and adherence to safe work practices.
- Communicate daily production goals, progress, and priorities clearly to the team.
- Collaborate with production planning, quality assurance, and other departments to resolve issues and improve workflow.
- Prepare and submit required production reports to management.
Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in sewing, textiles, or manufacturing preferred.
- 3 years of experience in sewing or garment manufacturing environment, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of industrial sewing machines, sewing techniques, and production processes.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficient in time management, labor allocation, and meeting production goals.
- English/Spanish bilingual strongly preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
