Cleaver-Brooks Sales and Service is seeking an experienced Senior Boiler Controls Technician to join our team in Grandview, Missouri. In this critical field-based role, you will lead troubleshooting, testing, tuning, repair, and optimization of industrial boiler control systems while performing mechanical work on pumps, valves, piping, burners, and related equipment. Your work will directly support our commitment to maximizing boiler uptime, minimizing downtime and costs, and delivering safe, efficient, and reliable boiler room solutions for our customers.

Signing Bonus Details (if applicable):
- Qualified Tech candidates with 1-5 years of relevant boiler experience will receive a $2,500 signing bonus! ($1,500 paid upon hire, and $1000 paid after 90 days)
- Qualified Techs with 5 years of relevant boiler experience will receive a $5,000 signing bonus! ($3,000 paid upon hire, $2000 paid after 90 days)
Essential functions:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and upgrade industrial boiler controls, sensors, PLCs, field devices, and electrical systems ranging from 12 VDC to 480 VAC.
- Perform emergency troubleshooting and repairs on boilers, burners, pumps, and associated systems.
- Conduct boiler start-ups, commissioning, system tuning, and efficiency optimization in the field.
- Plan and participate in the installation of new boilers, burners, and control systems.
- Perform planned maintenance, internal/external inspections, and repairs on boilers, burners, and related equipment.
- Evaluate basic boiler room systems (steam and hydronic), gather data, analyze information, and help solve operational problems.
- Use industry tools and instruments including combustion analyzers, manometers, electrical meters, and circuit testers.
- Complete work orders, service reports, safety logs ,checklists, deficiency forms, and preventive maintenance requests with strong attention to detail.
- Provide exceptional customer service and communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, supervisors, and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare standard reports while meeting permit and compliance requirements.
- Other duties as assigned in support of our 24/7 customer-driven operation.
Basic Requirements:
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent. Technical school a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience with industrial electrical and control systems (boiler or burner experience highly preferred).
- Strong electrical and troubleshooting skills across 12 VDC to 480 VAC systems.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot PLCs, read wiring diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
- Solid mechanical and electrical background with experience using hand tools, power tools, and trade-specific instruments.
- Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong industry-specific vocabulary.
- Proficient with computers, MS Office, smartphones, email, and internet-based applications.
- Demonstrated aptitude and strong desire to continuously learn new technologies and systems.
- Superior customer service mindset that builds goodwill and long-term partnerships.
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to work overtime and on-call shifts on a rotating basis.
Travel Requirements:
- Able to travel overnight up to 40% of the time when needed. Daily local travel to customer sites.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean, insurable driving record (no major infractions).
Physical Skill & Effort:
Requires stooping, climbing, bending, crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds, working in confined and elevated areas, and prolonged standing. Able to work long hours in a physical role. This is a safety-sensitive position. Site-specific safety training, plant orientations, and adherence to our safety-first culture are required.
Working Conditions and Hazards:
Work in different plant environments where plant orientation and site-specific safety precautions are required. High heat, dusty, noisy, and confined space environments will be encountered. Safety sensitive position.
