Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions, ensuring compliance with all federal and state transportation regulations
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other equipment, ensuring secure placement on flatbeds or roll-off trucks
- Drive long-distance routes or local deliveries, managing schedules efficiently to meet delivery deadlines
- Secure cargo properly on flatbed trailers, utilizing tarps, straps, and other securing devices to prevent shifting during transit
- Inspect vehicles regularly for safety issues, perform routine maintenance checks, and report any mechanical concerns promptly
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate pickups and deliveries
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, freight details, and inspection reports in compliance with DOT regulations
Experience
- Proven truck driving experience with a focus on flatbed or tractor-trailer operations
- Familiarity with driving refrigerated trailers, tanker units, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks is highly desirable
- Hands-on experience load & unload procedures using forklifts or manual methods
- Knowledge of route planning and route driving best practices to optimize efficiency
- Valid CDL license with necessary endorsements for flatbed hauling and specialized equipment
- Experience working with freight that requires securement on flatbeds or specialized trailers is preferred
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to commercial driving and cargo securement
