Job Summary
The CMS Field Technician III / Lift Station Installer is responsible for the installation/ rehab, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of lift station equipment and related infrastructure. The technician ensures the efficient operation of the mechanical, plumbing, welding, and concrete contributing to the overall reliability and safety of the municipal or industrial water systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lift Station Installations & Rehabs
- Disassemble current station and rebuild with new piping, manifolds, rail systems, and all associated piping.
- Must be able to layout and install bypass pumping.
- Must be skilled in equipment operation such as a mini excavator, crane truck operation, and skid steer.
- Confined Space Certificate and experience with structural concrete is highly preferred.
- Maintenance and Repair
- Perform regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of lift station equipment, including pumps, valves, control systems.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and plumbing issues to ensure systems are functioning optimally.
- Perform cleaning, lubricating, and other routine tasks to maintain equipment longevity.
- Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, health and safety standards, and company procedures.
- Use appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when handling hazardous materials or performing potentially dangerous tasks.
- Maintain proper documentation of service, repairs, inspections, and safety protocols.

- Technical Skills
- Proficiency in the operation and maintenance of lift station systems, pumps, motors, and structural concrete.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and plumbing systems.

- Certifications
- Confined Space Certificate is a plus.

Experience

Work Schedule
- Standard hours may be 40 hours per week, with potential for overtime, especially in emergency situations or during on-call shift.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform strenuous physical labor in outdoor environments, including extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted; occasionally required to lift heavier objects with assistance or mechanical aids.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces and at elevated heights, including ladders, scaffolding, or into vaults, manholes, and tanks.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle tools, operate valves, and use instrumentation or control devices.
- Visual and auditory ability to detect, identify, and diagnose equipment malfunctions or leaks in piping and system components.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection, safety harnesses, gloves, and protective clothing.
- Able to safely enter and work in hazardous environments including those with strong odors, loud noise, and potential chemical exposure.
- Must maintain physical readiness to respond quickly to emergency repairs or system failures, including after-hours or on-call assignments.
