What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Educator - Summer Camp Assistant position at Clearwater Farm?
Overview:
Clearwater Farm is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Summer Camp Director in delivering an outdoor education program for ages 7-13 from June 8 - August 7. Applicants need to be enthusiastic about environmental education, working with children, and spending time outdoors. Experience with gardening and working with animals are preferred - or an eagerness to learn!
Responsibilities:
- Be available to work Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 1:00 pm, beginning June 1 and ending August 7, with one week off June 29-July3.
- Assist with teaching hands-on activities, including animal care, gardening, cooking, nature exploration, games and crafts.
- Assist with setup and cleanup of camp activities.
- Ensure the general safety and well-being of participants.
- Handle farm animals, including baby chicks, goats, sheep donkeys, and mini horses.
- Model respect and curiosity for nature.
- Represent Clearwater in a professional manner.
- Photograph summer camp activities and help showcase the positive impact of Clearwater Farm.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children.
- Willingness to learn and teach in an outdoor farm setting.
- Positive attitude and a willingness to work with others.
- Ability to communicate with a variety of ages and backgrounds.
- Must be flexible and have a sense of humor!
