Precision Machinist -- Blueprint Interpretation & Inspection

Join a team that prizes accuracy, hustle, and teamwork. As a Precision Machinist, you’ll convert drawings into finished components across multiple shifts and help us deliver high-quality work at speed.

• Interpret drawings, sketches, samples, specifications, manuals, and router instructions to determine dimensions, tolerances, operation sequence, and setups.
• Measure, mark, and scribe reference lines on materials per router direction and proven shop methods.
• Choose and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials; create inventive setups with risers, angle plates, and similar tooling when needed.
• Set machining variables (speed, feed, coolant, depth/angle of cut) or retrieve/input/edit CNC control media.
• Run trial pieces to validate machine settings, tooling, and programmed data before releasing to production.

• Continuously observe machine operation to catch malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and adjust controls or programs accordingly.
• Verify parts meet print/router requirements using precision measuring tools; request first-piece inspection for multi-piece runs.
• Assemble parts into final units using jigs, fixtures, surface plates/tables, and hand/power tools.
• Confirm assembly alignment and dimensions with micrometers, height gages, and gauge blocks.

• While the current part runs, review the next job’s routers, programs, setup sheets, and tool sheets.
• Accurately enter time and job data into the data collection system for reliable labor tracking.
• Maintain daily cleanliness of machines and work area.

• Install machined replacement parts in equipment and test performance under maintenance guidance.
• Develop basic specs and sketches from general descriptions for parts to be fabricated.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to keep equipment at optimal performance.
• Collaborate with teammates to refine processes and boost efficiency.

• Minimum four years of trade school, vocational training, or apprenticeship.
• Specialized experience with certain materials, products, precision tolerances, machining processes, or specific machine types/trade names.
• Five-plus years of relevant machining experience.
• Skilled in both CNC and manual machine operation.
• Strong command of machining methods, tooling, and materials.
• Expert at reading technical documentation and blueprints.
• Meticulous attention to detail and quality standards.
• Problem-solving mindset; effective working solo or with a team.
