The Recovery Room Nurse is responsible for providing skilled cardiac nursing care during the pre and post catheterization period.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- An Associate’s Degree in nursing with a Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- A current Florida RN license and at least three years of professional nursing experience, with at least two years of advanced cardiac care experience (ie ER, ICU, CCU, Cath Lab).
- BLS and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
- Experience as a Cath Tech is a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following is a list of the major responsibilities of the Recovery Room Nurse. It is not intended to be an all inclusive summary and additional responsibilities will be assigned, as the need is determined.
- Provides pre-procedure care for patients (i.e., nursing assessments, medication reconciliation, starts IV’s, preps area for cath, reviews procedure with patient).
- Administers medications intravenously, orally, and intramuscularly as directed by the physician.
- Monitors patient’s vital signs and implements post cath orders; clearly documents patient progress in the patient’s electronic record.
- Evaluates patient condition at all times and notifies physician of any problems.
- Performs CPR, defibrillates patient and operates temporary pacemakers when necessary.
- Provides any necessary assistance to patient or physician in emergency situations.
- Assists technical staff as necessary.
- Safely discharges patient from facility in accordance with physician orders and in compliance with established discharge criteria.
- Responsible for accurate documentation of all patient data.
- Maintains Recovery Room area in a clean, safe, and orderly state.
