Job Summary
We’re looking for a hands-on Field Technician with the brains to configure IP addresses and the grit to climb poles and wire trailers. You’ll be responsible for installing, programming, and troubleshooting IP surveillance systems, access control devices, and mobile trailer surveillance platforms. This is not a desk job. You’ll work in the field, on ladders, in trailers, and sometimes at heights exceeding 15 feet.
Responsibilities
- * Install and configure IP cameras (fixed, PTZ, panoramic)
· * Program and troubleshoot access control systems (card readers, maglocks, strikes, door controllers)
· * Pull, terminate, and test Cat5e/Cat6 and low-voltage control wiring
· * Build and wire mobile surveillance trailers, including solar systems, batteries, and DC power distribution
· * Set static IPs, manage VLANs, configure PoE switches, and troubleshoot basic networking issues
· * Interpret wiring diagrams and project schematics
· * Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, cable testers, and software-based IP scanners
· * Maintain clean, labeled wiring and up-to-date documentation
· * Perform field service calls, including system diagnostics and repairs
· * Safely operate lifts and ladders to access equipment mounted 15 feet off the ground
Skills
- * 2 years of hands-on experience in security systems installation or low-voltage integration
· * Proficiency in terminating Cat5e/Cat6 and structured cabling
· * Solid understanding of IP networking (subnets, static IPs, DHCP)
· * Experience with VMS platforms (e.g., Hanwha Wave, Milestone) and door access systems (e.g., Paxton, HID)
· * Ability to troubleshoot power and wiring issues independently
· * Experience working with 12V/24VDC systems, including solar power setups
· * Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, or rooftops (15 ft)
Tools & Tech
· * Laptops and software tools (Wireshark, Angry IP Scanner, ONVIF Device Manager)
· * Hand tools, power tools, crimpers, punchdown tools, and cable testers
· * Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for IP planning, inventory, and documentation
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
· * OSHA 10/30 certification or equivalent safety training
· * Hanwha, Paxton, or manufacturer-specific certifications
· * Basic networking certification (CompTIA Network , UEWA, etc.)
Additional Requirements
· * Valid driver’s license with clean record
· * Willingness to travel to job sites and occasionally work after hours or weekends
· * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions
