Our client, a well-established investment management firm with approximately $20 billion in assets under management, is seeking a highly skilled and versatile Systems Administrator. This is a hands-on individual contributor role with high visibility across all trading technology groups. You will collaborate closely with the CTO and Engineering teams to maintain and evolve a diverse infrastructure environment spanning Windows, Linux, VMware, and cloud platforms.
Core Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Maintain and build out infrastructure, including physical servers at the headquarters and offsite data center locations.
- Mixed Environment Support: Manage a workload roughly split between Windows Server/Microsoft 365 (70%) and enterprise Linux administration (30%).
- Cloud & Virtualization: Provision and configure AWS EC2 instances and manage VMware vSphere (ESXi) virtualized environments.
- Network & Security: Oversee TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs while managing enterprise-grade firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet).
- Physical Operations: Handle server hardware tasks including racking, cabling, diagnostics, and component replacement.
Required Technical Skills
- Windows: In-depth knowledge of Active Directory, Azure AD, MS Teams, and Multi-Factor Authentication.
- Linux: Hands-on experience building and configuring Linux environments from scratch (specifically Rocky Linux).
- Networking: Strong understanding of email flow, routing, spam filtering, and malware protection.
- Automation: Working knowledge of PowerShell, Python, or Bash for task automation and workflow optimization.
- Security: Familiarity with endpoint security, EDR tools, and IT compliance standards suitable for a regulated financial environment.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5 years of experience managing enterprise-level IT infrastructure.
- Industry Background: Professional experience in financial services, hedge funds, or similarly regulated environments is strongly preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Bonus: Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible.
