Summary:
The Business Analyst – Power Trading will support the business in the drafting of business/functional requirements for use by software engineering and third-party system providers, manage and execute small projects and other change initiatives, provide support for trading applications and propose solutions for the needs of the business.
You will interface between the business/users and software engineering teams or third-party system providers, define requirements and contribute to the delivery of solutions for, and together with, the business. Ensure the quality of deliveries and that business expectations are realized and provide general support to the business.
Duties:
- Act as an interface to the Power Trading business and ensure an understanding of the business objectives and priorities, and be proactive in proposing value-adding solutions to the business
- Work with the business to define business/functional requirements, and ensure business validation of such requirements and consistency with the systems landscape and strategy of Trading IT
- Work with the technical team, including software/application engineers, on solutions design and delivery
- Prepare and execute test plans, and ensure compliance with user/business/functional specifications and IT control framework
- Work closely with BA’s and other IT resources from across the Trading IT organization
- Contribute to the roadmap and resource planning for your delivery team
- Prepare project plans and other change initiatives, which may be as part of a team, and contribute to the implementation of such projects
- Liaise with the business on all aspects of service delivery and promote IT solutions delivered
- Manage a backlog of change requirements and assist in their delivery
- Provide user support and assist with the resolution of incidents and problems
Requirements:
- 7 years of work experience in a utility or a commodity trading environment with strong knowledge of power trading/scheduling. ISO/RTO experience required (ERCOT highly preferred).
- Knowledge of short-term and physical power trading, including scheduling processes and systems. Prior experience with ISO Bid-to-Bill systems like Softsmiths, PowerOptix, Adapt2 etc. SCADA experience desired.
- Strong interest in IT and technology, and experience of software engineering and application management.
- Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously and to work under pressure, good communication and organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Experience of Project Management, DevOps and Agile delivery methodologies, and requirements engineering is desirable.
Education:
- Bachelors in business, computer science, or similar technology or engineering discipline.
