ClearHorizon Forensic & Counseling Group is a multidisciplinary behavioral health practice providing evidence-based therapy, court-ordered assessments, and supportive services for individuals navigating legal, family, and personal challenges. We partner with courts, attorneys, and probation officers across the DMV region to provide timely, professional, and client-centered care.
Position Summary (1099 Position)
The Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) provides evidence-based substance use treatment services to individuals and families. This role completes clinical assessments, develops individualized treatment plans, facilitates individual and group counseling, coordinates care with community partners, and maintains accurate documentation in accordance with ethical, agency, and payer requirements. The CSAC supports recovery through trauma-informed, person-centered, and culturally responsive care.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical Services
- Provide individual counseling, group counseling, and psychoeducation for substance use and co-occurring concerns (as applicable).
- Conduct screenings and comprehensive assessments (substance use history, risk, strengths/needs, ASAM-informed level-of-care recommendations when required by program).
- Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans with measurable goals and client participation.
- Provide crisis support and safety planning as needed; follow established protocols for high-risk situations.
- Support relapse prevention planning, recovery skill-building, and coping strategies.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation (assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries) per policy and payer standards.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and applicable state regulations.
- Track outcomes, attendance, authorizations (if applicable), and required reporting metrics.
Professional Development
- Maintain CSAC credential and complete required continuing education.
- Participate in clinical supervision/consultation as assigned.
- Uphold ethical standards, boundaries, and professional conduct.
Required Qualifications
- Active Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) credential
- Knowledge of evidence-based SUD treatment approaches (MI, CBT, relapse prevention, stages of change).
- Strong documentation skills and comfort with EHR systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and community systems.

Pay: $25.00 - $34.00 per hour
