What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker II position at Clearfield County Government?
This is a specialized skilled work position at the journeyman level in electrical, plumbing or HVAC and is responsible for maintaining Clearfield County buildings, grounds and bridges. Employees in this classification perform skilled maintenance and repair work. Employees exercise technical independence in determining work methods and procedures and receive assignments orally or through written instructions. Position is responsible for evaluating and repairing facilities, installing and repairing fixtures, performing carpentry, roof and basic HVAC repairs, maintaining maintenance equipment and clearing/maintaining grounds and facilities during inclement weather.
Evaluates and repairs facilities. Coordinates with outside vendors for any work outside the scope of responsibility.
Subject Matter Expert on county owned building mechanicals. Works with outside vendors to ensure is kept up to date on work changes or additions to mechanical systems within county buildings.
Installs and performs repairs on phone lines, fixtures and electrical circuits.
Performs carpentry, roof, floor and HVAC repairs. Paints buildings and signs of county as needed.
Maintains blueprints for county buildings and is the point of contact for determining interpretation as relates to issues or repairs of structures.
Interacts often with mechanical firms and/or architects regarding problems or changes to all mechanical systems
May supervise Inmate work crews.
Maintains maintenance equipment. Performs basic repairs to equipment, makes recommendation for and researches new equipment.
Clears and maintains grounds and facilities during inclement weather.
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by vocational/technical training in mechanical field; supplemented by ten(10) years previous experience and/or training involving building and grounds maintenance; general contracting or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Requires considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tolls and practices used in at least two building electrical or mechanical trades.
