Facility Maintenance & Repair Technician
Location: Austin, (and potentially) San Antonio, Texas
Employment Type: 1099 Contract
Schedule: Primarily overnight shifts (2000 – 0400), Work assigned as received
Pay Range: Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Facility Maintenance & Repair Technician to support ongoing maintenance, repair, and renovation projects within a professional business facility. This position involves performing detailed repair work, painting, fixture replacement, and light carpentry tasks while maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
Baseboard & Surface Restoration
- Repair and refinish 360 linear feet of baseboard moldings.
- Use products such as Old English Scratch Cover to minimize surface damage.
- Perform sanding, stripping, and re-surfacing as needed based on results.
Painting & Wall Repair
- Mask, prep, and paint approximately 1,530 sq. ft. of wall space in multiple rooms (2 coats).
- Mix and apply Sherwin-Williams premium paint/primer.
- Conduct light drywall repair and ensure smooth, even finishes.
Ceiling Tile Replacement
- Replace up to 1,718 sq. ft. of ceiling tiles, including specialized tiles in kitchen areas.
- Cut, fit, and finish tiles using utility knives, drywall saws, and other standard tools.
- Clean and dispose of materials safely using shop vacs and contractor-grade trash bags.
Plumbing Fixture Installations
- Install refrigerator drain lines using appropriate fittings and hoses.
- Troubleshoot drainage issues and ensure proper function and sealing.
Cabinet & Hardware Replacement
- Replace up to 10 cabinet hinges and one lock assembly.
- Select appropriate replacement parts by matching styles and finishes at hardware suppliers.
Restroom Fixture & Accessory Maintenance
- Reseal restroom fixtures using caulking tools and materials.
- Install new coat hooks and ensure all fixtures are securely mounted and finished.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in facility maintenance, construction, or general contracting.
- Proficiency in painting, light carpentry, and basic plumbing.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Familiarity with hand and power tools (utility knives, drywall saws, paint rollers, etc.).
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail and safety compliance.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Must have the ability to pass airport badge ID background check and testing.
- Availability for overnight work (2000 – 0400) and a consistent 5-day schedule.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with commercial maintenance or hospitality environments.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC or electrical systems (a plus).
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
