Construction Supervisor – Job Description
Position Summary
The Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day on-site operations to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with all quality standards and building codes. This role requires strong leadership, clear communication, and the ability to anticipate and resolve issues with urgency.
Key ResponsibilitiesOn-Site Supervision
- Direct and coordinate all on-site construction activities.
- Supervise subcontractors, laborers, and trade personnel to ensure productivity and adherence to project plans.
Safety & Quality Control
- Enforce all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Monitor workmanship, materials, and installation methods to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standards.
Communication & Coordination
- Communicate clearly and effectively with the project management team regarding progress, issues, and required resources.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and vendors to resolve field challenges in a timely manner.
Issue Forecasting & Problem Resolution
- Identify potential construction, design, or code issues before they impact the schedule.
- Implement corrective actions quickly to maintain project momentum and compliance.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and submit detailed daily field progress reports, including manpower, work performed, delays, inspections, and safety notes.
- Maintain accurate site documentation, including logs, photos, and records of communication.
Schedule Support
- Assist in developing, updating, and managing the construction schedule.
- Report potential schedule risks and work with project managers to adjust sequencing and manpower as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of construction field experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Proficiency with project management and reporting software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, PlanGrid, Bluebeam).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs as required.
- Comfortable navigating active construction sites, including ladders, scaffolding, and uneven terrain.
- Availability to work extended hours or weekends as project needs dictate.
