Role Description The Optometrist role at Clear Perspective Eyecare is a full-time, on-site position located in Albuquerque, NM. The Optometrist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose and manage ocular diseases, prescribe glasses and contact lenses, and provide pre- and post-operative care when needed. Daily responsibilities include reviewing patient histories, educating patients on eye health and treatment options, and collaborating with opticians and support staff to ensure accurate lens prescriptions and efficient patient flow. The Optometrist will maintain detailed clinical documentation, stay current with advances in optometry and eye care technology, and contribute to a positive, patient-centered practice culture. Occasional participation in practice growth initiatives, such as community outreach or internal process improvement, may be expected.
Qualifications

  • Clinical optometry skills, including comprehensive eye exams, refractions, contact lens fittings, and diagnosis and management of common ocular conditions.
  • Ability to use and interpret results from modern diagnostic equipment and technology (e.g., OCT, visual fields, retinal imaging) to support accurate clinical decision-making.
  • Strong patient communication skills, with the ability to explain findings, treatment plans, and preventive eye care in clear, understandable language.
  • Collaborative skills for working effectively with opticians, technicians, and administrative staff to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills for maintaining accurate clinical records, managing schedules, and following practice protocols.
  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited institution and current, unrestricted optometry license (or eligibility) in the state of New Mexico.
  • Commitment to ethical, non-discriminatory patient care and respect for individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Willingness to stay current with continuing education, best practices in optometry, and emerging eye care technologies.
