Role Description This full-time, on-site Utility Forester / Certified Arborist role is based in Georgia (Area) and focuses on supporting utility vegetation management and field safety initiatives. The Utility Forester / Certified Arborist conducts field inspections of utility rights-of-way, identifies hazard trees and vegetation risks, and recommends appropriate mitigation actions in alignment with utility standards and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating with utility staff and contractors, documenting field observations, verifying work quality and compliance, and supporting QA/QC processes and risk audits. The role also involves using GIS or digital tools to capture and update field data, preparing clear reports and maps, and participating in storm and emergency response or wildfire mitigation activities as needed. Collaboration with operations teams, adherence to safety protocols, and proactive communication with stakeholders are essential components of this position.
Qualifications
- Professional forestry or arboriculture expertise, including experience in utility vegetation management, hazard tree identification, and right-of-way inspection.
- Certification as an ISA Certified Arborist or equivalent; formal education in forestry, arboriculture, environmental science, or a related field preferred.
- Proficiency with GIS, GPS, and field data collection tools, along with basic computer skills for reporting and documentation.
- Strong understanding of safety practices, regulatory and compliance standards, and QA/QC processes related to utility and vegetation management.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with utility clients, contractors, and internal teams, including the ability to write clear field reports.
- Ability to work outdoors in varied terrain and weather conditions, walk long distances, and safely operate vehicles and basic field equipment.
- Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and make sound field decisions.
