What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor - Lead position at Clear Creek Metropolitan Recreation District?
The CCMRD Summer Camp Counselor assists the Co-Directors of Childcare with the facilitation of an adventure-focused summer camp childcare program for school-age children. Working in a team environment, Summer Camp Counselors maintain high standards of care and a safe camp experience for all participants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assists the Co-Directors of Childcare with the facilitation of all summer camp programs.
- Meets the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive needs of each child.
- Maintains daily open communication with each child and their families.
- Reports any suspected abuse or neglect to the Co-Directors of Childcare and the State via the Mandatory Reporter program.
- Maintains a safe and healthy environment that is clean, tidy, and adequately sanitized/disinfected.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must maintain 15 hours of childcare training before starting employment. Including yearly required training through PDIS.
SPAN OF SUPERVISION
- Reports to the Co-Directors of Childcare
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma required.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License and a willingness to drive a 15-passenger van required.
- Clearance from the Central Registry of Child Protection required.
- Clearance from the Colorado Bureau of Investigations required.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Passion and concern for children and their wellbeing.
- Certified in First Aid/CPR/AED (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire)
EXPERIENCE
- Three (3) months of verifiable full-time or part-time equivalent work experience with school age children required.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work is performed primarily outdoors, working indoors as needed.
- Must be able to work as a team member in a diverse work environment.
- Indoor work may be in a busy environment where noise, interruptions, and disruptions from children prevail.
- Requires alertness, precision, memory, concentration, judgment, reasoning, patience, problem solving, imagination, creativity, and innovation.
- Required to safely lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
