What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator of Counseling Services position at Clear Creek ISD?
Support the mission and strategies of the district and the Department of Counseling and Student Services by providing leadership and expertise in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the district’s comprehensive school counseling program as well as supporting the development of the district’s prevention curriculum and instruction.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/Licensure
Master’s degree in Counseling or a similar field from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas public school counselor certification
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) preferred
Valid Texas principal certification preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge and experience with The Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs
Knowledge and experience with Texas High School Graduation Requirements
Ability to identify emerging needs involving school counseling
Ability to manage budgets and personnel
Ability to coordinate district functions
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to interpret data
Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Experience
Minimum of 3 years classroom teaching experience
Minimum of 3 years counseling experience in public school
Counseling and/or counseling supervisory experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist with the identification and support of the district strategic plan in daily
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Counseling and Student Services to maintain a full staff of professional school counselors in all schools.
- Support the implementation of The Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Program with campus school counselors, campus principals, and district professional staff for grades PK-12.
- Support the professional growth of district school counselors by coordinating professional learning opportunities, monthly meetings, and campus visits.
- Provide training on all mandatory staff development related to counseling and the ongoing needs of students for administrators and campus school counselors.
- Work with campus principals at their request to implement and develop growth opportunities for counseling to meet the needs of the campus.
- Work with campus principals, and counselors annually to establish a campus comprehensive school counseling program and determine effective ways to measure the success of the program.
- Coordinate a mentoring program for all new school counselors and assist mentors and mentees as needed.
- Conduct yearly needs assessments with district school counselors to determine the professional development needs of the district’s school counselors.
- Facilitate the ongoing collection and review of data to ensure district and campus counseling goals and student needs are being met.
- Be open and available as a resource to district administrators, campus principals, and campus school counselors to support the daily counseling needs of students and staff.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Counseling and Student Services to support the District Critical Incident Response Team and serve as a member of the team for district and campus crisis
- Coordinate and annually update the CCISD Counseling Playbook
- Work with campus school counselors to develop, coordinate, and evaluate classroom guidance lessons utilizing the Texas Comprehensive School Counseling Program guidance curriculum components including Intrapersonal Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Personal Health and Safety, and Post-Secondary Education and Career Readiness.
- Support and collaborate with district prevention specialist, to support prevention related guidance curriculum
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Counseling and Student Services to coordinate the district-wide College Night, Financial Aid Night, and other district-wide events for students and parents.
- Stay up to date on the administrative needs to support all aspects of Xello
- Support the district-wide annual High School Senior Audit by coordinating all necessary documentation and processes.
- Coordinate registration timelines, procedures, and the educational planning guide for intermediate schools.
- Support the four-year planning process for all incoming and current high school students by maintaining the course master in Xello
- Build and/or maintain partnerships among respective community groups and providers in support of the district strategic plan and the mental health needs of students.
- Coordinate services of District Student Support Consultant
- Work collaboratively with all departments to ensure a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) is available to meet the needs of all students and families.
- Model effective counseling practices which include supporting the needs of the whole child.
- Manage and utilize policy effectively for maintaining systemic processes and
