TITLE: 0.5 FTE Elementary Principal
LOCATION: Amana Elementary (Amana, IA)
REPORTS TO: Superintendent/designee
JOB SUMMARY: The Principal is responsible for the direction of all personnel who perform their respective functions within the province of the building. This position will be opening a new elementary school building with the district. The Principal is directly responsible to the Superintendent of Schools/designee and is obligated to keep the Superintendent informed of all matters deemed pertinent and relative to the operation of the school unit. The Principal also performs a staff function serving in an advisory capacity to the Superintendent of Schools for all personnel.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
General Responsibility and Authority Delegated by the Superintendent:
Coordinate and Supervise Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment
Curriculum: supervise and implement district curriculum
Leads and makes suggestions to staff to implement effective practices to improve instruction.
Building schedule--build and supervise a building schedule
Work directly with Curriculum director to implement district curriculum
Data based decision making
Teachers/Support Staff
Develop the professional capacity of school personnel
Provide regular PD
Collaborate with AEA staff to provide learning opportunities
Collaborate with Leadership teams for school improvement
Support PLC process at the building and district level
Collaborate with Building Leadership teams
Support and provide Social-Emotional learning
Collaborate with Instructional Coach
Initiates conversations about diversity and culture and the impact on student learning; corrects intolerant statements and behaviors. Builds capacity of staff
Manage staff turnover and succession
Walk throughs and fidelity checks
Community
Cultivate a culture of learning
Communicate regularly
Hold regular staff meetings
Evaluation
Follow district guidelines for teacher/support staff evaluation
Guide and provide feedback for the Individual Professional Development Plans (IPDPs) for teachers
School Improvement/Shared Vision
Meet regularly with Building Leadership team to set goals and evaluate progress

Oversee/Manage Building Budget
Regular communication with district business manager

Attend regular board meetings and present when necessary
