TITLE: Associate Principal/ Activities Director
LOCATION: Clear Creek Amana Middle School (Tiffin, IA)
REPORTS TO: CCA Building Principal
SUPERVISES/EVALUATES: Assists the principal with supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the school district's policies, procedures and applicable laws
JOB SUMMARY: To provide leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills that promote the educational development of all students. To also provide enrolled students at the middle school an opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities. To exercise general supervision of all related personnel, ensuring all their duties and responsibilities are performed properly. To ensure that all activity programs, including music, drama, athletics, etc. are coordinated throughout the middle school.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education:
- An earned master's degree
- A valid Iowa Administrative License by the State Board of Educational Examiners with a Principal Endorsement and Iowa Evaluator License.
Preferred Skills/Background:
- Strong background in curriculum and instruction.
- Demonstrated success in implementing and supporting the Professional Learning Communities process.
- Strong background of building and maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Vision - Supports the implementation of the school's vision, goals and strategies:
- Member of administrative team responsible for school-wide planning
- Utilizes data to assist with development and monitoring of educational goals and initiatives that promote improved academic achievement for all students
- Articulates and promotes high expectations for teaching and student learning
- Assists the Principal in the recruitment, hiring and induction of teachers and staff to support quality instruction
- Develops and implements a professional growth plan for self improvement
- Culture and Instructional Program - Supports an effective teaching and learning environment for all students
- Assists the principal with supervising the instructional program and assists teachers in personal growth improvement
- Conducts frequent 'walk through' observations and assessments of middle school classrooms
- Confers with teachers and students concerning educational and behavioral initiatives in the school
- Utilizes data to assist in the development and monitoring of student behavioral/health initiatives
- Coordinates development of curriculum extensions and adaptations to provide for diverse student learning needs
- Management - Supports staff and efficient management and operation of the building
- Assists the principal with planning and monitoring the school budgets, including the requisition and allocation of supplies, equipment and instructional materials as needed
- Assists the principal with preparation of class schedules, cumulative records and attendance reports
- Assists in providing for the safety and security of all students and staff by walking about the school campus and facility
- Assists in planning and directing building maintenance to assure equipment and support systems operate safely and efficiently
- Collaboration - Helps engage the community to create shared responsibility for student and school success
- Provides frequent reports to the community highlighting student achievement
- Demonstrates effective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders

- Oversees all student scheduling within the PowerSchool system, including initial scheduling at the beginning of the year and schedule changes throughout the year.
- Coordinates scheduling of all extra curricular activities and maintains the calendar of extra curricular activities for the middle school
- Obtains officials, athletic trainers, security and volunteers as required for middle school activities, and assumes general responsibility for the proper supervision of home athletic events
- Plans, organizes, directs, supervises and administers the overall program of extracurricular activities
