We have a opportunity for a Bilingual Medical Assistant
Position Summary
Our fast-paced medical office needs a reliable team player to become a long-term part of our group and provide clerical and medical support for the clinical staff for FRONT and on occasion BACK office.
Hours are from 8am-5pm
Duties and Responsibilities
•Consistently demonstrate EXCEPTIONAL patient care which is the heart of our medical practice.
•Answer incoming calls, check messages, and return calls in a timely manner
•Obtain benefits, pre-certifications, authorizations and enter information in the account notes in EHR.
•Schedule appointments after insurance information has been verified.
•Review any amount owed if patient needs to make payment, must collect co-pays/ deductibles over the phone and in person.
•Provide detailed messages and prescription refills to physician and/or nurse
•Fax confirmations to referring doctors
•Keep current all reports and files into the patient chart.
•Perform other activities such as purchasing office supplies, scanning, etc.
•Assist team with special projects and perform other duties as needed
•Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and manage multiple projects
•Detail-oriented
•Ability to work independently and part of a team
- Verified patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit and taking vital signs.
- Assist physician and prepare patients for examinations.
- Perform EKG's, Strep throat test, HCG test, Drug screenings, CBC's, venipuncture.
- Verify insurance policies and benefits.
- Handle phone calls with patients, insurances and pharmacies.
- Do referrals for patients to specialists.
- Schedule appointments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•Excellent customer service and telephone skills.
•Advanced knowledge of insurance plans including Pre-Auths, Referrals, etc...
•Knowledge/experience with billing office scheduling.
•Basic ICD-9, ICD-10 and CPT coding preferred.
•Must be able to multitask.
•Naturally organized and committed.
Requirements
- Bilingual in Spanish
•Prefer 2 years experience but will consider excellent candidates with less experience.
•We require good attendance and the ability to work overtime as needed.
•Must have a Valid Texas Driver License, reliable transportation.
