Field Technician Intern - Industrial Services

The Opportunity

Clean Harbors in Reserve, Louisiana is seeking a Field Technician Intern to join our safety-focused team. This internship provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while supporting real projects that contribute to business priorities across our environmental, energy, and industrial services operations. This opportunity is for our Summer 2027 Internship Program.

As part of our Industrial Services internship program, this opportunity will be based at an HPC Industrial or Thompson Industrial location in Reserve, LA, Powered by Clean Harbors. This is an onsite, field-based internship and is not a remote opportunity. Interns should expect to spend significant time working in the field alongside our teams and traveling to customer and project sites to gain hands-on exposure to our Industrial Services operations. This position is for our Summer 2027 Internship program!

Interns will work alongside experienced field professionals, gain exposure to industrial cleaning and field operations, and develop practical skills that support their academic and early career goals.

What does it take to intern with Clean Harbors?

• Currently pursuing a degree or technical education in Industrial Technology, Process Technology, Mechanical Technology, Agriculture, Industrial Maintenance Technology, Chemical Technology, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field at an accredited college, university, or technical school program;
• Strong interest in gaining hands-on experience within industrial services, field operations, or environmental services;
• Ability to understand and follow specific procedures, directions, and safety requirements;
• Ability to work collaboratively in a field-based team environment and communicate effectively with technicians and supervisors;
• Willingness and ability to work in industrial environments that may include outdoor conditions, loud environments, temperature extremes, confined spaces, and work around heavy equipment;
• Ability and willingness to prepare and deliver an end-of-internship presentation highlighting key experiences, projects, accomplishments, and learnings from the internship; 
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including lifting and handling up to 50 pounds and performing activities such as standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, and kneeling for extended periods.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
• Assist experienced technicians with the setup, operation, and monitoring of industrial cleaning equipment, including pumps, hoses, and circulators, in accordance with training and safety procedures;
• Support equipment inspections and help identify potential deficiencies with hoses, pumps, connections, circulators, and work areas prior to beginning a job;
• Assist with basic equipment maintenance and the installation or repair of components such as valves, caps, hoses, pump gaskets, and related equipment;
• Gain hands-on exposure to industrial field operations while learning to safely work around heavy equipment and in a variety of industrial environments;
• Follow established procedures, job instructions, and safety requirements while working collaboratively with field technicians, supervisors, and other team members.
