Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of commercial trucks such as forklift, mini excavator, roll-off trucks, dump trucks, enclosed trailers and flatbeds to load and transport junk and waste materials.
- Load and unload debris efficiently using mechanical equipment like front-end loaders or manual methods while adhering to safety standards.
- Follow all DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, state transportation laws, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols during route driving and delivery operations.
- Maintain accurate logs of daily routes, loads, and disposal activities in compliance with traffic laws and solid waste management procedures.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections for mechanical issues or safety hazards; perform basic maintenance or report repairs needed for air brakes or other truck components.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating professionally with clients during pickups and ensuring their needs are met with respect and efficiency.
- Adhere strictly to safety guidelines when handling hazardous materials or working in outdoor environments with varying weather conditions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating heavy-duty trucks, all types of trailers, loaders, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, flatbeds, in municipal waste management or commercial settings.
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws, state transportation regulations, hazard handling procedures, and heavy lifting techniques.
- Mechanical knowledge related to garbage trucks or similar equipment is preferred; ability to perform basic vehicle inspections is required.
- Demonstrated safe driving record with defensive driving skills; experience with route driving and delivery driver responsibilities highly valued.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions; physically capable of heavy lifting and manual load handling.
- Excellent communication skills combined with a proactive attitude toward safety protocol adherence.
