The Accelerate Program is a paid workforce development internship sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and managed by Argonne National Laboratory. The program provides students with hands-on experience in clean transportation, energy efficiency, and sustainable infrastructure while working with our local Clean Cities and Communities Coalitions, serving Fairfield County and Litchfield County Connecticut.
The Clean Transportation Coalition – Western Connecticut has an immediate need for a motivated Marketing & Communications Intern to support outreach, education, and engagement initiatives that advance clean transportation technologies and sustainable mobility solutions throughout the region.
The Marketing and Communications Intern will play a key role in promoting coalition programs, events, and initiatives through digital communications, social media, community outreach, and marketing campaigns. The intern will also assist in developing and supporting an independent project that aligns with coalition goals and provides valuable, real-world professional experience.
- Create and manage social media content and campaigns across multiple platforms.
- Develop marketing materials, newsletters, press releases, and promotional content.
- Assist with event planning, promotion, and community outreach activities.
- Support stakeholder engagement efforts with businesses, municipalities, schools, and community organizations.
- Conduct research on clean transportation trends, programs, and technologies.
- Track and analyze communication and social media metrics.
- Collaborate with coalition staff and partners on outreach and educational initiatives.
- Support an individual project that contributes to coalition objectives and professional development goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with social media platforms and digital marketing.
- Outgoing, self-motivated, and comfortable engaging with diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to take initiative, solve problems, and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Interest in sustainability, clean energy, transportation, or environmental issues.
- Background or coursework in communications, marketing, environmental studies, public policy, or a related field preferred.
- Rising sophomore or junior enrolled in a college or university.
- Must live in Connecticut and attend a Connecticut college or university.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Must meet all eligibility requirements of the Accelerate Internship Program.
