Nurse Practitioner (NP)
We are seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated Substance Abuse Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our treatment team. In this role, you will provide high-quality care to individuals struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health concerns. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping patients through recovery and is experienced in assessing, diagnosing, and treating addiction-related conditions in a collaborative clinical setting.
Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner works closely with an interdisciplinary treatment team that may include physicians, counselors, therapists, and psychiatrists. This role is responsible for evaluating patients, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, prescribing appropriate medications, and supporting patients throughout the recovery process. The NP will also provide education to patients and families regarding treatment, recovery, and relapse prevention.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physical and mental health assessments
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions
- Order, review, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Prescribe and manage medications as appropriate
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Collaborate with physicians, counselors, therapists, and other members of the care team
- Educate patients and family members on treatment plans, recovery expectations, and relapse prevention
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation
- Support a patient-centered, trauma-informed approach to care
Required Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or higher from an accredited program
- Active Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the state of West Virginia
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license, if applicable
- 1-2 years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience required
- Nurse Practitioner licensure/certification in the state of West Virginia
- Ability to assess, diagnose, and treat patients with substance use disorders
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in substance abuse treatment, behavioral health, addiction medicine, or psychiatric care
- Psychiatric-Mental Health or substance use disorder-related specialty background
- Certification in substance abuse treatment or addiction-related practice
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary treatment environment
